A journey through Greece, from the hopes of the victory Syriza to the post-referendum disappointment

May 2016 - Ongoing

Eight year of crisis. A crucial node on the Balkan route of the refugees. While people’s lives changed according to the new economic and social circumstances, Greece found itself at the center of the global attention. In 2015 over 800.000 refugees entered the country from Turkey. Alexi Tsipras won again the election in September, despite the chaos of the referendum of July 4th. One year later, despite the hardship, Greek people has demonstrated to be united as a country, showing support and solidarity to the asylum seekers, keeping up the spirit of joy mixed with nostalgia that is characteristic of the Greek culture. This essay shows how Greeks have been living through this last important year.
